Woo hoo, Mike! That's good news indeed. Give us about a year to collect the signatures, petition for a referendum, then vote? After that we'll be wide open for business (and welcome all hard-working - former - Canadians)!
What a thorough and insightful analysis of what is happening in Canada in general and Alberta in particular. I learned a lot here. Hopefully, the movement to rid the unaccountable elite from being our overlords will gain momentum throughout the world.
Thanks, Jim. I'm with you in hoping for radical change (counter-revolution, per Victor Davis Hanson), the 'Better Story' as told by the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship ... essentially a tidal wave of common sense with all credit to American voters and the inestimable Donald Trump.
Might have to move to Alberta although do not like the cold. So I ask friends a question. You only have 2 choices, would you rather be part of China or part of the USA. They freak out on me and say they want neither, when I push them saying you only have this choice they freak. I don't want either they say. Well then stop the Trump Syndrome and wake the hell up. How can anyone stand behind Trudeau after 10 years of deliberately wrecking Canada
In the southern ~half of the province, we have something absolutely wonderful during the winter months. A warm wind (known as a Chinook) periodically blows over the Rocky Mountains and gives us a lovely break from the cold: snow melts, the streets are a mess, people are sometimes in shirt sleeves .... And when it gets cold again, we dress warmly, appreciate the reprieve, and look forward to the next one.
You'd be more than welcome!
At least President Trump believes in his people, seems to really care about them and their well-being, and wants what's best for them ... quite unlike anything we've seen from our federal government, right?
Thank you Rose Anne, I have lived in Alberta in fact Ft Mcmurray for quite a few years, if I were to move it would be southern Alberta. It is hard as I live on Vancouver Island and love the weather.
How fun is that?! I lived in McMurray for a number of years as well. I've heard Vancouver Island is wonderful, but are you able to find any like-minded political folk?
Yes I am loving it here. The island is weirdly brain washed. I find it to hard to socialize with people. I do meet people, I cannot deal with people that are so blind and refuse to see.
Carney’s platform if you read it, is noticeable for what it doesn’t say. Not a word about developing Alberta’s resources or getting them to market. Plenty about Net Zero by 2050, carbon capture, sustainability and all the usual climate change nonsense but not a word about oil and gas.
To build more competitive manufacturing and services sectors, Canada must invest to become a clean energy superpower in nuclear, hydro power, wind, hydrogen, battery storage and carbon capture.
It’s scary that he might actually be PM without ever having been elected and that he probably plans to drag the country further down the road to serfdom.
Thank you for the link, and for confirming my suspicions about his intentions.
Worrisome indeed, and I'm in complete agreement with your assessment. How on earth does our system permit piracy of this nature?! (That's pretty much what it seems, doesn't it: he's hijacked our government, and not a vote cast.)
Thanks, Daithi, and no, I haven't read it. I've read and listened to quite a bit about what others have to say about it; most notably Liz Truss (former PM of the UK). She provided a stark warning citing his contribution to the current deindustrialization mess in her country and the likelihood his destructive environmental policies would fell Canada. Net Zero = no oil and gas as I understand it.
Albertans, as all Canadians, are free to move wherever they want. Don’t let the door hit your ass on your way out. I bet there are a few Americans that would love to buy your homes. Plus we’re a little immune after having so much practice listening to Quebec for so many years.
Who has money these days to start fresh somewhere else?! I'll admit it's tempting, Sophia, but I'm not ready to quit yet. Canada maybe, but not Alberta: there's still hope for us, I believe.
I will move to Alberta if they propose separation, as will many Canadians from coast to coast. 🇨🇦

I simply adore Professor Peterson.
Me too!

Well, anytime you'd like to chat about politics, don't hesitate to reach out (either here or LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/businessandtechnicalwriter/)
I cancelled my Linkedin years ago, no social media just substack and not sure how long I will stay on substack.
KEEP CANADA CARNEY FREE!!
We'll do what we can of course, but the decision pretty much rests with the Liberal party and supporters.
Yes time to use the Trump system and west seperation
It won't happen overnight, I'm afraid. Every signature on the referendum will count!
Once again JP is sharp as a razor! Thanks for sharing

That’s a quote from him. You can read more at www.markcarney.ca

There is a pipeline to tidewater…. That is already improving the export situation tremendously…. Your argument is old and tired… you have been conned
Sorry, you lost me at woke. Try again please.

Quisling.
No thanks
